Companies who listen to moms
I went to a focus group today for a major tech company who wanted to hear what moms thought about their new product. Pretty simple idea, right? Moms make most of the buying decisions so ask them what they think and what would make them buy something. If it's so simple, why don't many companies do this? They spend hundreds of thousands if not millions on advertising but if moms aren't talking about it, if moms don't understand it, if moms don't like it, it isn't getting bought.
If more companies cared what moms thought about their products, they could have a stronger, more loyal consumer base. When moms like something they not only continue buying it, but they share it with their circle of influence. Get with it companies, focus on finding out what moms like and the rest of the family will follow.

Do working moms really not like SAHMs? Are the Mommy Wars for real?
Ok what is the deal with Moms fighting other Moms? I am a Stay at Home Mom and really like being home with my kids, but why do I feel like I need to apologize for it? It’s as if working moms don’t think I have anything to talk about other then potty training and preschool. I do! I read. I watch TV. I’m a woman, wife, daughter, sister, etc along with being a mom. Any other SAHMs feel like that? And for the working moms out there, am I imagining things? Do you feel like SAHMs don’t have a lot to contribute? Do you think we don’t have anything in common? I just think we’re all moms and we all make our own choices in life. There should be no judgement either way. Why can’t we all just get along?

Do you love Chick Fil A as much as I do?
![]() |
| My daughter and a friend enjoying their Chick Fil A ice cream cones. |
When I'm looking for something to do with the kids, Chick Fil A is always near the top of my list. The food is good...sure...but it's how helpful the staff is that really keeps my coming back. I go to the Chick Fil A-Vinings on Paces Ferry which has a great playland and despite there being a lot of business people, I never feel like I have to shush or rush my kids.
My suggestions for having an even better Chick Fil A experience:
- Go early. 11am is perfect to avoid the business men and women and also the post-preschool rush.
- Ask for help and you shall receive it. It really does seem that it is the workers pleasure to get you that extra fork, another refill, or extra napkins for the inevitable spill.
- You do not have to get a kids meal for every child. Have them split a 6 count nuggets meal, or just get a 8 count adult meal. Who needs another toy, right?
- If you do get a toy, trade that in for ice cream and use it as a bribe to get out of the play area. I'm not above bribes!
- Go with friends! Two moms and 5 (or more) kids is still easier than 1 mom with 3 kids. Plus, you never know when you need an extra diaper.
What is your favorite children's restaurant? Any tips for me?
Enjoy!

Atlantic Station extends Movies in the Park series through September
Atlantic Station has extended their popular outdoor move series: "Movies & the Market" through the end of September. Join them starting at 6pm to take advantage of restaurant specials throughout Atlantic Station and walk through the Atlantic Station Artist Market for some cool, unique finds. Then at dusk, enjoy a blockbuster movie projected on a giant screen in Central Park.
This would make a great date night or pack up the kids and make it a family night. Enjoy the restaurant discounts (especially the kids eat free ones) or pick up some yummy treats for your picnic basket and eat under the stars. Either way, make sure to bring chairs or a blanket and get their early to stake your spot as the park is not very big.
Summer Series schedule: August
5 Ferris Bueller's Day Off
12 Star Trek: the future begins
19 Best in Show
26 Mary Poppins
September
2 UP
9 The Proposal
16 Princess & the Frog
23 Julie & Julia
30 E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial
Movies are weather permitting - for updates check Atlantic Station's Facebook page.
Enjoy!
